During the 44-day war, 67-year-old Vera Khachatryan lost her husband, Slavik Khachatryan, in her native village, Aygestan, Askeran region. Years after Slavik’s death, the family started to emigrate, leaving behind not only what they had done over the years, but also the grave of their hero. Today, Vera lives with her son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren in the city of Hrazdan. Father and son were fighting for life and death on the battlefield, the father was killed, and the son continued the fight for the motherland, having no idea that one day he would be forced to emigrate with his wife’s family.
