44-օրյա պատերազմի ժամանակ 67-ամյա Վերա Խաչատրյանը, հարազատ գյուղում՝ Ասկերանի շրջանի Այգեստանում, կորցրեց ամուսնուն՝ Սլավիկ Խաչատրյանին:Սլավիկի զոհվելուց տարիներ անց ընտանիքը բռնեց գաղթի ճամփան թողնելով ոչ միայն տարիների իրենց արած դրածն, այլ նաև իրենց հերոսի գերեզմանը: Այսօր արդեն Վերան, որդու, հարսի և 3 թոռների հետ կյանքը շարունակում է Հրազդան քաղաքում: Հայր ու որդի մարտի դաշտում կյանքի ու մահվան կռիվ էին տաիս, հայրը զոհվեց, իսկ որդին շարունակեց կռիվը հանուն հայրենիքի, պատկերացում չունենաով, որ մի օր ստիպպված կինի ընտանիքի հետ բռնել գաղթի ճամփան:
