Մերին հպարտ էր և սրտի խորքում երջանիկ, որ որդին առողջ էր ու ծառայում էր հայոց բանակում։ 2022 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 12-ին լսելով, Կապանի դիրքերում տիրող անհանգիստ վիճակի մասին, Մերին սրտի մի անկյունում հույս էր փայփայում, որ 2 ամսվա ժամկետային զինծառայող իր որդին հեռու է այդ ամենից։ Մերին այսօր ևս գլուխը բարձր ու հպարտ քայլերով շարժվում է դեպի Եռաբլուր  զինվորական պանթեոն, որտեղ հուղարկավորել է իր Ռոբերտին։ Ռոբերտի զոհվելուց հետո Մերին չի կարողանում հանգիստ գլուխը բարձին դնել, քանի որ իր խոսքերով մինչ այսօր անպատիժ են մնացել բոլոր մեղավորները։
