Մերիի համար էական չէր, թե որտեղ կապրեր իր անչափահաս երեխաների հետ, կարևորն այն էր, որ ամուսնուց հեռու լիներ և վարձակալած բնակարանը լիներ մատչելի։ Այսօր երիտասարդ մայրը երեխաների հետ ապրում է Գյումրիի տնակներից մեկում։

Կյանքը փոխելու ու նոր կյանք սկսելու որոշումը միայնակ մոր համար անհաղթահարելի էր թվում, սակայն իր երեխաների ապագայի համար Մերին պայքարում է ու ամեն գնով պահում է իր երեխաներին։ Ամբողջ ձմեռ տան կահույքը ընտանիքի վառելափայտն էր։ Դա Մերիի միակ միջոցն էր երեխաներին պաշտպանելու սաստիկ ցրտից։
