Գյումրիում հուլիսի 13-ի կարկուտն ու անձրևը շատ ընտանիքներին թողեց առանց տուն ու տանիք։ Ավետիսյանների ընտանիքը այն մի քանի տասնյակ ընտանիքներից էր, որը ստիպված օրերով գիշերում էր դրսում՝ բաց երկնքի տակ, քանի որ տեղումները ավիրել էին նրանց տնակը։ Ամբողջ կյանքի ընթացքում ընտանիքի կուտակածն ու վաստակածը մի քանի րոպեների ընթացքում «ջուրը տարավ» ու թողեց միայն փլատակներ։
